We just got some alleged (but very convincing) internal documents on Verizon’s 4G plans, and it’s mostly stuff we’ve already heard — 5-12Mbps down, aircards before smartphones, and plans to roll out in 30 cities in 2010. That said, documents dated this week show the company’s still on track to serve up 100 million connections by the end of the year, and a pair of independent tipsters have just sent us pics of Verizon computers ready and waiting for those precious LTE sim cards. Furthermore, the docs also claim that the planned LTE isn’t just fast, it’s got a lag-destroying 30ms latency too, and fans of wider wireless computing can expect 4G tablets of some sort in 2011 as well. See all the goodies in our gallery below.

Sure, the Samsung Vibrant came out three days earlier, but you don’t care if T-Mobile customers beat you to the Galaxy S punch — you’re on AT&T, and it’s about time you had (another) high-end Android smartphone to call your own. Our recent hands-on showed it was a bit sluggish, so you might want to wait for our full review, but if your heart’s set on that 4-inch Super AMOLED screen and 1GHz Hummingbird core, you’re only two clicks away from adding the Android 2.1 handset to your virtual shopping cart. Click one is our source link, immediately below.

Well played, OtterBox — you’ve got your inbound link. Here are some other attention-grabbing ideas we might recommend:

A “Verizon-compatible” iPhone case

“iPod nano touch” screen protectors

A housing for “Apple TV (late 2010)” boxes

An iPhone 4 bumper that costs less than thirty frickin’ dollars

Update: Some readers claim the hole is for the iPad’s ambient light sensor, which would make a certain degree of sense if only it appeared in OtterBox’s other picture of the case, too. See it after the break.

[Thanks, Galen]

Since their third-place finish in the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge, TORC Technology’s had quite a climb — the company founded by Virginia Tech graduates has since provided IED-scouting Humvee kits to the US Military, and a vehicle for the blind uses the drive-by-wire platform that they designed. Now, the Marines are testing a TORC kit called the Ground Unmanned Support Surrogate (GUSS), which autonomously navigate off-road terrain. Designed to accompany ground troops, the four prototypes only move at 5 MPH, but carry up to 1800 pounds, and can automatically follow troops (or other GUSS) at a distance while shouldering their loads. A one pound transmitter — the WaySight — can show the GUSS where to go, or optionally enable direct control for soldiers who prefer things the old-fashioned way. Personally, we love the smell of autonomy in the morning, don’t you? See it in action after the break.
